The patients have all received hearing aids through the Miners Plan. Duties will include greeting patients and checking them in for the appointment, managing the remote-site telehealth equipment (computer, video-otoscope, hearing aid supplies), sending hearing aids in for repair, using a video-otoscope, supply inventory, connecting the hearing aids to the programming software, and cleaning and troubleshooting of hearing aids. Training will be provided by the University of Utah Speech Language Hearing Clinic.The technician will be required to complete annual University trainings as assigned by Human Resources to meet university standards. These trainings are completed online.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions Greets and directs patients to theircorrect destinations both in person andover the phone. Anticipates the needsof the patients and guests thenresponds in an accurate and timelymanner. May be required to utilize, troubleshoot,and assist patients and family with acheck-in kiosk. Schedules patient appointments andcontacts patients for rescheduling,missed appointments and appointmentreminders. Completes patient admission andregistration process by reviewingaccounts and other compliance-relateddocuments for completeness andaccuracy. Obtains and documentsmissing information required forregistration. Verifies patient benefits and eligibility,when needed. Collects all necessaryco-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance, as needed. Responds toquestions regarding accounts status,payment arrangements, and concerns. Resolves billing or charge disputes orforwards problem accounts to theappropriate individual for resolution. Reconciles cash against daily chargeand cash reports. Monitors patient flow, adjustsworkflows, and notifies the clinical staffof any pertinent information andchanges. Acts as a liaison between patients,guests, back office staff and providers. Assists patients with automatedmedical record access, as needed. Manages inventory and maintenance.May be required to drive patients fromthe hospital to designated locations.Performs other duties, as required.Problem Solving Demonstrated potential ability toperform the essential functions of thejob as outlined above. Demonstrated computer skills and anability and willingness to learn newapplications and software, proceduresand processes. Ability to assimilate data from varioussources. Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAAregulations to ensure that patientinformation is guarded and respected. Ability to navigate a facility with multipleproviders and services.Minimum Qualifications One year of office experience, customerservice experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Current, valid Utah driver’s license attime of hire may be required in someareas.This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
