Job Description: The Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management.It is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.Please apply to this posting to be considered for Full Time, Part Time, and PRN/On Call positions. This position is also eligible for an additional 5% geographical pay differential for all hours worked.Surgical Technologist Opportunities at Park City Hospital Intermountain Park City Hospital offers Surgical Technologist (ST) positions in Park City, Utah. The surgical operations environment is team-oriented with multi-disciplinary groups including surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and nurses. The surgical technologist is an integral team member and has many different levels of colleagues to lean on and collaborate with to provide the patient with a safe and extraordinary experience.OR specialties include a major emphasis on Orthopedics including world renowned sports medicine, total joint replacement, as well as routine ortho cases. Park City Hospital also offers General Surgery, ENT, Urology, GYN, Neuro, and Plastics surgical specialties. Park City Hospital implemented a Robot program in April of 2023. Surgical technologists will get the opportunity to be trained and use the new DaVinci robot. Surgical Services shifts are primarily Monday-Friday, daytime work and allow for 10- and 12-hour shifts equaling prn, part- or full-time hours depending on personal circumstances and availability. Some limited evening shifts with a set schedule are available for the person who wants to work off-hours allowing for family or school obligations. Ensures room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.

Maintains sterile field and safe environment.

Prepares room and instruments for surgical procedure.

Assists the surgical staff during the procedure, within the scope of practice.

After procedure, cleans room and prepares for next procedure.

Identifies emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.

Level I Pay Range: $23.25 - $35.89

Level II Pay Range: $25.58 - $39.49

Level III Pay Range: $28.15 - $43.42

This position could be filled as a Surgical Tech II or Surgical Tech III depending on experience and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications (Level I)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program (ORT)

Or graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, but not currently eligible to sit for Tech in Surgery exam (NCCT)

Or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years.

Or International training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the United States.

In addition to meeting Level I requirements (above), to qualify for a Level II/III role, you must also meet the following requirements: Minimum Qualifications (Level II)

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Competent in Basic Procedures or 1 or more specialty areas and/or facility case mix

Able to take assigned call

Must be in good standing.

Minimum Qualifications (Level III)

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Competent in Basic Procedures and 2 or more specialty areas such as (Ortho, Robotics, Neuro, CV, Trauma, Transplant, Reimplants) and/or facility case mix.

Able to take assigned call

Must be in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

Active National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is expected within the timeframe outlined below.

Certification is required after hire as follows:

Surgical Technologists who graduated from an accredited program must certify within one year of hire (may use either NBSTSA or NCCT certification).

Surgical Technologists who have graduated from non-accredited programs or completed on-the-job or military training, need to certify as soon as possible. This can be done upon graduation or, according to the NCCT requirements, take beyond one year in order to meet worked hours (>6000) and case tracking requirements. Managers will need to meet with new hires and determine certification course, projected certification window, and track progress.

Physical Requirements: Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

and -

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and instruments with precision and accuracy. This includes computer use and typing for documentation, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
