Job Description:Commitment:The volunteer program requires a six-month commitment - with a minimum of a 3-4 hour shift a week, exceptions being for vacation or illness. We're looking for individuals that can be here consistently. We depend on our volunteers because you truly do make a difference.This is an unpaid position that gives you the opportunity to use your talents, meet new people and experience the pleasure that comes from making a difference in peoples lives.We are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to serve in such areas as:
Guest Services - Engaging with individuals consistently, helping them find their way within the facility and to their appointments, maybe even escort them in a wheelchair.
Department Support - assisting patients/staff for an individual nursing unit and meeting their needs
Surgical Waiting Room - keeping guests updated regarding their patient having surgery
Emergency Room - assisting patients/staff in the Emergency Room, meeting their needs
Gift Shop Assistant - assisting customers with their purchases, pricing items, and using the cash register
Playing Music in the Hospital Lobby
Transportation (Golf Cart) - Escorting guests within facility
Patient Visitation - visiting with patients in need of companionship or offering courtesy items
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Able to work alone and independently
Have good communication and listening skills
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to work with diverse populations
Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing)
Adequate hearing and vision
Sensitive to patient and family situations
