About the Position:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical / Pipe Fitter to join our team for a heavy civil project involving the installation of large-diameter steel pipe with bolted connections, mechanical fittings, and valves within an existing tunnel. This project runs through March 2025, with additional backlog projects available to continue employment starting in Summer 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipe Installation: Install large-diameter steel pipes with bolted connections in accordance with design specifications, ensuring alignment and proper sealing.
Fittings and Valves: Assemble and secure mechanical fittings and valves, ensuring functionality and adherence to quality standards.
Tunnel Work: Perform pipe fitting work within an existing tunnel, managing spatial constraints and maintaining safety protocols.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical specifications to execute installation plans accurately.
Quality Assurance: Inspect all installed components for proper function, alignment, and compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following job site safety regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure project milestones are met effectively and efficiently.
Maintenance and Adjustments: Perform adjustments, repairs, and maintenance as required during installation and testing phases.
Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience as a Mechanical / Pipe Fitter in heavy civil or industrial projects.
Expertise in working with large-diameter steel pipes, bolted connections, mechanical fittings, and valves.
Ability to work within confined spaces, such as tunnels, while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and installation techniques.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and plans.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in demanding environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications or training in pipe fitting or mechanical systems.
Experience with tunnel-based installations or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
