The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University, Utah's only accredited museum for modern and contemporary art, seeks to hire multiple Museum Attendants for Spring 2024. This part-time position assists with the areas of Visitor Services, Gallery Security, and Educational Programming. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing visitors, processing sales in the museum store, ensuring the safety and security of artwork in the galleries, giving gallery tours, and assisting with Education Activities and other events.US Work Authorization is Required.Responsibilities
Attendants typically rotate through assigned duties during their shifts such as monitoring the galleries, welcoming patrons at the front desk, and giving tours of the exhibitions. In addition to shifts during Museum hours, attendants are needed to work receptions, special events, and programming outside of normal hours. Some events take place off site and/or make use of NEHMA's Mobile Art Truck. A flexible schedule and willingness to occasionally work weekends and evenings is required.Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
Interest or background in the visual arts: Demonstrated passion or educational background in visual arts.
Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to engage with patrons by conducting tours, enforcing museum policies, and providing explanations effectively.
Exceptional social skills: Proficient in interacting with diverse demographics including strangers, children, and the elderly.
Reliability: Punctuality, consistency, and dependability in work attendance.
Weekend Availability: Must be available to work on weekends.
Willingness to support NEHMA staff: Assisting in various projects and events as required
Preferred qualifications:
Specialized experience: Background or expertise in art history, art education, or general art practices.
Experience with educational settings: Previous engagement with children or in an educational environment is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Occasional night shifts: Ability to work occasional evenings when necessary.
Multilingual skills: Proficiency in a language other than English.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required for the role.
