Description SAIC is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to join our team supporting the ICBM weapon system at our government customer site Hill AFB, UT. Commit your talents to the critical Department of Defense (DoD) mission of nuclear deterrence by helping sustain and improve the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) leg of the United States Nuclear Triad. This position will directly support the Sentinel Payloads Division.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Advising the government on acquisition decisions
  • Supporting major design reviews
  • Review contractor engineering products & deliverables
  • Review contractor specifications and requirement traceability
  • Evaluation of contractor materials analysis against the system requirements
  • Requirements management in Digital Engineering environment
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 10 years of directly related experience
  • Must have a current (within last 6 years) Secret security clearance or higher and be able to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable timeframe
  • Knowledge of waterfall, spiral, or Agile life cycles

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with design, development and application of composite materials
  • Experience with materials associated with extreme Temp/Velocity environments similar to those used in the protection and performance of Rocket Nozzles or Reentry Vehicles
  • Experience with Aerospace manufacturing and testing
  • Hands on experience working with and developing high strength and high temperature composites is highly desirable
  • Direct Air Force program experience with Air Force processes, procedures, acquisition and development procedures
  • DoD acquisitions program experience is desirable
  • Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems and software tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communications skills in addition to sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with government customer and company personnel
