Requisition ID: 157803Position SummaryApply, remove, and repair insulation on equipment, boilers, pipes, tanks ductwork, or other mechanical systems with insulating materials, such as fiberglass, cork, plastic, and magnesia.Experience LevelIntermediatePrimary Responsibilities and Duties Reads and interprets blueprints, instructions, and other documentation or plan work activities. The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site,so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Determines the amounts and selects required insulation material such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, or urethane, based on material's ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use. Moves materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement or asphalt mastic. Fit insulation around obstructions, and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required. Install sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect the insulation from weather conditions or physical damage. Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces and prepare surfaces for insulation application. Covers or seals insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to structure, according to type of insulation used and structure covered, using staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun. Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines.Qualifications May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for position. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.Requirements Able to meet all physical requirements. Must have all required tools Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft) Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
