Big Creek Construction is seeking to hire a TxDOT Level 1B Lab Technician in the Central Texas area.
Job Summary: The TxDOT 1B Lab Technician oversees the roadway paving process to be sure it is done in the best practice mode and the final product meets specification set by TxDOT.
Perform field sampling and testing of asphaltic concrete in accordance with established procedures and the standard methods established by TxDOT.
Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete testing reports on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures.
Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data.
Makes detailed observations and gives limited interpretation of results.
Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results.
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
If there seems to be a problem with the material, the 1B Lab Technician will investigate and make recommendations for changes to meet the specifications.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Requirements
Must have knowledge of TxDOT HMA testing procedures and specifications
Competent with Microsoft Office
Ability to work flexible schedule with some nights and weekends (REQUIRED)
Physically able to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds, bend, stoop and grasp
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
Ability to work in extreme conditions (Heat, Rain, Cold, Dust)
TxDOT Level 1B Certification (PREFERRED)
2 years testing experience (PREFERRED)
Texas Driver's License due to travel requirements (REQUIRED)
Pass a Pre-Employment "Fit For Work" Physical (REQUIRED)
Pass a Drug/Alcohol Test (REQUIRED)
