Summary/Objective:

The SWPPP Assistant at Barron Environmental Service and Technologies will support the development and implementation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) and Erosion Control procedures. Responsibilities include assisting with the creation of logs, research documents, and erosion management processes, as well as supporting site map reviews to help ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This position requires basic knowledge of SWPPP and Erosion Control practices, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders.

Required Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience:

1. Associate’s Degree or 2 year Technical Certificate (preferred)

2. Valid Texas Drivers License

3. Valid Personal Auto Liability Insurance

4. At least one year of relevant experience in a similar position (Preferred)

Work authorization/security clearance required:

Must be eligible to work in the United States

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Experience in managing databases, ensuring accurate and organized storage of information for efficient retrieval and reporting and record keeping

2. Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements, software updates, and changing technological landscapes

3. Proficient in creating clear and comprehensive documentation for projects, ensuring transparency and knowledge transfer within the team

4. Proficiency in basic computer operations including using the internet, email applications and software including MS Office programs such as MS Word, Excel, 5. PowerPoint and Publisher, etc

6. Possesses and maintains a knowledge and understanding of SWP3 and EC plans

7. Knowledge and basic understanding of engineering and architectural drawings, site maps, Google Earth program, USDA Soils programs, and Texas Waterways program

8. Knowledge of and experience in project development and management to assist Business Owner and management team

9. Demonstrates exceptional attendance

10. Reports to work on time

11. Demonstrates proficiency in conveying instructions clearly and comprehensively

12. Demonstrates excellent customer relations skills.

13. Takes initiative and is capable of self-direction

14. Ability to follow policies and operating within established company guidelines

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Prepares SWP3 & Erosion Control files, documents and research data for management and client use

2. Assists vendor delivery personnel with inventory control and unloading of materials and supplies as needed

3. Order, purchase, and keeps inventory of office supplies and materials for management, administrative, and personnel use

4. Assists management with the development and production of special projects, presentations, and personnel management programs manuals as assigned.

5. Oversees, manages, and ensures correct accounting of the company’s petty cash fund including financial deposits and expenditures on a monthly and annual basis

6. Analyzes and interprets data using tools within MS Excel and other relevant software to extract meaningful insights

7. Performs other duties as assigned and as needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values

The role of SWPPP Research Assistant often requires the ability to work effectively in a moderate to fast-paced office environment. This environment typically involves frequent activities, interactions, and tasks that must be completed within specified timeframes. Additionally, interruptions and unexpected events may occur, which can require flexibility and adaptability while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the SWPPP Research Assistant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently sits and/or stands. The employee may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will frequently use electronic devices, including but not limited to personal and laptop computers, printers, scanners, and other typical office equipment. Frequent typing is required; therefore, the employee will constantly use their fingers, hands, wrist, elbow, and any necessary upper extremities to do so. Employees may occasionally have to twist, pull, or stretch. The employee will frequently read material in print or on the computer with various text sizes and colors. The employee will have to view and analyze images, pictures, charts, and graphics. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with and or without using prescribed or over-the-counter optical glasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids. The SWPPP Research Assistant will occasionally travel within and outside the city limits and may be exposed to various (fair to extreme) weather conditions.
