DESCRIPTION: The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Project Engineer develops and implements manufacturing solutions within the Trane Technologies Residential HVAC business to support the business's safety, quality, productivity, capacity and customer satisfaction goals. This leadership position offers opportunities to utilize both engineering/technical as well as program management skills in the delivery of manufacturing solutions at Residential HVAC manufacturing sites, and has full accountability of project ideation, development and implementation. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop manufacturing process solutions, including tooling and equipment specifications/requirements, business case, process and material flow, and control plans for manufacturing processes including sheet metal forming/stamping, copper/aluminum brazing, tube cutting/bending, automated/integrated fabrication lines, proprietary/custom-designed processes, assembly, and testing/inspection
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing site engineering, design/test engineering, product engineering, new product program management and support functions such as supply chain and accounting in the development of new and modified manufacturing processes.
- Responsible for project timeline/schedule development, resource planning, cost/expenditure planning, and risk management
- Responsible for project communication and reporting in both formal and informal environments
- Coordinate and support multidisciplinary new technology and new product development processes.
- Review engineering changes and new product designs, estimate cost (materials, labor, and tooling) to purchase and/or manufacture parts, and coordinate implementation of Engineering or Process Change Requests.
- Drive innovation to reduce product and manufacturing costs utilizing Lean, Six Sigma and 3P tools.
- BS Engineering or equivalent technical degree and work experience
- Professional Engineer preferred
- Seven (7) years' experience with manufacturing process support and/or facilities
- Two (2) years' experience with dimensional control/gauging/quality/metrology
- Demonstrated leadership and communication experience interfacing with all organizational levels
- Program Management experience, PMI PMP preferred
- Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent demonstrated analytical problem-solving experience preferred
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
- Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation software and typical computer applications
- Proficient with CAD/modeling software
- Machine design and control experience preferred
