Position Summary:Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI), established by the 87 th Texas Legislature (2021), is an agency associated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). By leveraging the robust capabilities of Texas’ largest school of public health and its six campuses located throughout the state in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San AntonioTEPHI will:· Create a trained multi-sector public health reserve of at least 3,100 members across the state.· Establish a reliable and secure data analysis infrastructure reinforced by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).· Create a laboratory testing network to monitor for emerging infectious agents beyond COVID-19.· Develop new and operationalize current “work and learn safe” protocols for small and rural businesses, schools, and essential food production.Develops, plansandmanagesallactivitiesofaschool/unitprogram(s)orproject(s).FunctionsinaLeadership capacity in theprogram.Position Key Accountabilities:

Overseesallaspectsoftheprogram/projectactivities.Setsdeadlines,assignsresponsibilities,andmonitors project progress. Provides direction and guidance to departmentpersonnel.

Stays abreast of new and updated protocols and policies and develops, implements, and manages internal policies andprocedures.

Manages compliance and ensures the department follows internal and external rules, regulations and standards.Oversees inspections and/or reviews and ensures the appropriate personnel have the proper credentials and licensingneeded.

Manages/maintainsannualbudget,negotiatesservicecontracts, reportsonprogressand/orauthorizes expenditures.

Providesguidancetouppermanagementandkeepstheminformed ofkeyactivities andmakes periodic progressreports.

Manages partnerships with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborativeopportunities.

Preparesprogressreportsandgrantproposalstobothprivatefoundationsandgovernmentalagencies.May work closely with Office of Sponsored Projects on the submission ofgrants.

Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals andfunded projects.

Working in conjunction with Public Affairs, may create and edit various communications materials for the department/program,whichmayincludeprintedmaterials,websitecontentand/ordepartmentnewsletters.

Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professionalmeetings.

Manages Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salaryplanning.
