Position Summary:Provides trained paramedical support in administering health care services.Position Key Accountabilities:

Receive phone calls from patients and call patients

Schedule clinical appointment

Escort the patients to the clinic room

Check vital signs

Review patient’s medications and update the information

Call in prescriptions to pharmacies

Access electronic medical record - EPIC

Enter/upload the medical information, including medications and laboratory orders into the electronic medical record (EPIC).

Collect medical record from referring physicians’ offices/clinics/hospitals

Schedule video conference with patients as needed.

Send orders and receive results for Lab work, Cardiac Imaging, Genetic Test, 30 day Holter Monitor

Keep up with patients monthly Blood pressure log

Receive Faxes

Set up clinical binder including pedigree for new patients

Perform routine EKG during office visit

Initiate clinic summary for Dr. Marian to dictate

Send UT billing form to designated department

Prior Authorizations for Insurance coverage on certain medication and Imaging

Verify insurance before patient appointment

Report any adverse effects of the medication when new medication is initiated

Email patient clinical visit summary post clinic visit and referring doctor if the patient is new

Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

Use and care of standard clinic equipment. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred

Minimum Experience:

Six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.
