ResponsibilitiesThe Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients seen in the Optometry or Ophthalmology departments. He or she will ensure the safety and comfort of patient and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards.Job Title: Ophthalmic Assistant (OA/COA) – OptometryLocation: Fort Bend CampusDepartment: OptometryJob Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $38,422 – $56,413 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)QualificationsEducationRequired: High School diploma or GED from an accredited programPreferred: N/AExperienceRequired:OAAt least 1-year previous Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Assistant experience if not a graduate of an approved Medical/ Ophthalmic Assistant program.Or6 months experience if a graduate of an accredited Medical/Ophthalmic Assistant program.COAAt least 1 year of experience under an Ophthalmologist with ophthalmic certification or Graduate of an accredited vision technology school.Preferred:OA1 year in ophthalmic settingCOA2 years of previous work experience under an ophthalmologist.License(s)Required:COACertified as an Ophthalmic Assistant.Preferred: N/ASpecial SkillsRequired:OAAble to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population. CRT experience.Able to use NCT, Autorefractor, computer related equipment, Lensometer and able to perform K-readings.COAAble to use NCT, auto refractor, perform gross visual fields and gross motility exam, slit lamp operation, applanation tonometry, operate IOL master, evaluate pupils, use of OCT/HRT, pachymetry, corneal topography and Humphrey Visual Field Knowledge and dosage of ophthalmic drops.Able to Scribe, use portable tonopen,, Goldman VF, Fundus photography, Fluroscein Angiography, Immersion Intraocular lensPreferred: N/AOtherRequired: Current BCLSPreferred: Windows based computer skillsWorking Environment: ClinicAbout UsStart your career journey and become a part of a community of renowned Healthcare professionals.
