About you and this role –Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Analytical Technician in Seadrift, Texas and Victoria, Texas. This position primarily exists to perform basic routine analyses and calibration/maintenance of analytical systems to support chemical manufacturing. Analytical data is provided in order to produce and release products.Responsibilities –

Follow Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline/ ODMS (Operating Discipline Management System) procedures and practices.

Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned laboratory areas

Perform daily and weekly calibrations/standardizations.

Perform basic routine analyses.

Monitor analytical systems, identify problems, conduct first-line troubleshooting and escalate as appropriate.

Using existing tools, evaluate validity of data, apply basic statistics, compare to specified limits and take appropriate action.

Document/communicate and archive results.

Review resulting data and recognize production trends

Perform team tasks assigned to Seadrift Analytical Resources as per a standard task list and complete them before their due date

Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals

Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability

Document all shift activities using the Logbook tool

Participate in Root Cause Investigations as required

Coach and train others on general laboratory operations

Perform immediate response activities

Manage unplanned events

Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in laboratory performance and Operating Discipline

Perform equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and discipline

Operate laboratory equipment and instruments

Qualifications –

Candidate must meet one of the three following criteria:

Associates degree or higher in Process Technology or Science discipline.

In lieu of degree, High School diploma or GED equivalent AND 4 or more years of relevant military experience.

6 months or more of experience as a Process Operator or in an Industrial Lab role.

Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule (including weekends & holidays)

Able to work approximately 25% overtime as needed (including nights, weekends & holidays)

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations –

Lift, push, carry and pull up to a maximum of 50 lbs.

Able to work in a laboratory environment which requires minimal supervision.

Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, ear plugs, and/or acceptable safety shoes.

Capable of staying awake and mentally alert for long periods of time; especially during non-traditional hours (i.e. nights)

Adapt to the Rhythm of Shiftwork

Work in and around tight spaces and large machinery

Be able to repeatedly sit down and stand up from a chair at a workstation

Walk and stand for extended periods of time; up to 75%.

Frequent bending and reaching

Able to climb stairs / ladders

Able to perform repetitive motion tasks

Work in an area with hazardous materials.
