LOD Staffing has openings for Commercial Plumbing Apprentice
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, Occasional Weekends, 7am – 5pm but must be flexible with hours and days
Rate of Pay:
$15 - $30/hr Depending on Experience
The Commercial Plumbing Apprentice and Journeyman is responsible for providing support for the plumber by assisting with but not limited to cutting, and assembling pipes, cleaning the job site, and following the plumber’s instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Locating and identifying leaks.
Installs support before the installation of pipes, equipment, and fixtures.
Repairing or replacing pipes and parts.
Determining the right tools and equipment to successfully complete the job.
Assist with the inspection and testing of completed plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance
Clean work areas, tools, equipment, and materials
Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies
Move between jobs as projects progress and work is available
Work with contractors, construction workers, and electricians to meet all plumbing requirements.
Perform general labor work
Improve skill sets and work towards promotion to a skilled craft position
Perform other duties as assigned
Help the plumber to ensure that all work is in accordance with federal, state, and local plumbing codes
Minimum Qualifications
Must have 3+ years of plumbing/helper/assistant experience
Must have own transportation and valid Driver's License
Must be able to pass background check
Must be able to pass drug screening
Knowledge of manual tools such as hammers, wrenches, sockets, drills, tape measures, levels
Basic math skills and ability to use a calculator for percentages, division, multiplication
Ability to understand and carry out work orders
Able to lift 50 – 80 lbs.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions and environmental conditions, position is generally outdoors
Steel-toed shoes, hard hat, and a vest are required
The ability to communicate in English is required
Must be flexible with schedule. Work hours and work days may vary depending on the needs of the business and the deadlines to finish the project.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered as a Plumber’s Apprentice or Journeyman
Have their work tools such as Pipe Wrench, Solvent Cement & Primer, Plumber’s Putty, Pipe Cutter, Pliers, Hacksaw, and Basin Wrench.
Working Environment
Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to harsh smells, loud noise and all types of temperatures. Are often exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Are sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures when working outdoors. Must be able to lift to 80lbs.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, crawl, squat/Kneel, bend, push, and pull frequently. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on a work surface.
Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 25 to 80 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward, or outward position or drag, haul 25 to 80 pounds
Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, bending legs at the knees and moving extremities in any direction
Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day
Ability to express and exchange ideas using the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
