Emergency Youth Shelter in San Antonio, near the Medical Center, is seeking Youth Care Workers whose Primary Purpose is to work with female youth age 5-17 , be a team player

1-Full-Time position Monday-Friday 2-10pm

1 Part-Time position Saturday & Sunday 6am-6pm

Possible opportunity to pick up extra hrs/shifts

The Youth Care Worker assists clients with their day-to-day needs in our short-term emergency shelter.

Our facility provides housing and supportive services to youth staying at the shelter.

We also provide case management, advocacy, counseling, and teach life skills.

The Youth Care Worker must meet agency standards for knowledge, skills, judgment and ethics, maintain annual trainings required by DFPS , current first Aid & CPR certification

The Youth Care Worker is expected to:

Provide services in a client-centered and culturally appropriate manner;

Facilitate crisis intervention, conflict resolution and group problem-solving

Ensure security, safety, and cleanliness of the facility on a daily basis;

Follow and adhere to shelter policies & procedures put in place for the safety of children

Maintain related documentation and records

Perform other duties as assigned

Scheduling flexibility: Our shelter is open 24/7/365. Staff must be flexible to meet the varied scheduling needs of the shelter, though we strive to maintain regular schedules as much as possible.

Skills/Requirements

High School diploma or GED required;

One (1) year experience is desired or add'l education relevant to position;

Eligible to receive and maintain state fingerprint clearance and must pass background check

and random drug testing;

Eligible to receive and maintain food handler certification;

Minimum 21 years of age;

Reliable and dependable in reporting for shifts and have effective work habits;

Strong communication and people skills, must maintain positive interactions with others;

Ability to work with diverse populations;

a valid driver's license and clean driving record are required

Computer skills necessary to complete program paperwork, keep accurate records completed in a timely manner, enter and retrieve client information, use agency email, and locate information on internet.
