- Manages all backup infrastructure for the company including design, engineering, implementation and ongoing support.
- The group works very closely with server, data center, application and database teams to provide backup solutions.
- Responsible for performing Enterprise Backup Engineering & Administrator duties including backup storage design/configuration/management/ forecasting, backup software management/configuration.
- Must have experience with Commvault backup software and at least one of the major backup hardware vendors (Isilon, DataDomain).
- The engineer will work with database, application and server teams to analyze performance and backup requirements and provide solutions that are highly available and perform to meet the business requirements.
- Solid understanding of end to end backup connectivity for a minimum of one Open Systems Operating system (Linux, Microsoft, AIX etc).
- Proficient in i/o performance and connectivity troubleshooting from the backup system to host to the array/backup device.
- Must have experience with set-up, configuration and troubleshooting of host based multipathing technologies.
- Working knowledge of set-up, configuration and troubleshooting of host based volume managers.
- Ability to manage multiple vendor technologies at the same time.
- Exposure to database, host and virtual system backup solutions required.
- Experience with VMWare/Vsphere, SQL and DB2 DB commands and structure, shell scripting, Perl, Remedy, various monitoring software is preferred
- Skills preferred: Solid understanding of network configurations / topology Commvault backup application Isilon and/or Data Domain storage (Both preferably)
- Experience supporting Database backups on Data Domain with DDBoost Power protect software Technical project management experience is a plus
- Experience writing technical documentation
