Job Description

The Chief Scientific Director is responsible for ensuring clinical studies are designed and conducted with scientific integrity and according to Good Clinical Practices and / or Good Laboratory.

  • Builds new business and maintains current business by interaction with prospective and current clients
  • Provide technical guidance and support to sales team members for study design resolution and cost proposals
  • Works with clients to design studies to meet client testing needs and maintains a relationship with scientific counterparts on the client team
  • Serves as a principal investigator and sub-investigator on studies
  • Provide technical input to the clinical operations team at pre-study planning meetings
  • Collaborates with the operations team to ensure studies are conducted ethically (per GCP/GLP) and in accordance with the study protocol
  • Reviews and approvals final report for all studies
  • Builds and maintains strong clinical investigators (PI) and graders teams at SGS Dallas, SGS Phoenix, and SGS Union
  • Oversees the training of study investigators and clinical graders
  • Research and develops new methods of testing to meet unique client needs
  • Selects new bioinstrumentation and imaging systems for the clinics to maintain a functional, competitive testing environment
  • Oversees the relationship with SGS medical directors and supporting physicians
  • Identifies and secures outside physicians, medical facilities, and medical staff to support the execution of regulated and non-regulated clinical studies
  • Serves on and contributes to SGS-Stephens executive leadership committee
  • As required, contributes to SGS Cosmetic and Hygiene’s global expansion strategies
  • Attends key scientific and trade organization meetings
  • May presents podium or poster papers and authors articles in scientific or trade literature and supports clients who wish to present studies to which SGS has contributed
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. in the field of science or MD
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience conducting or supervising clinical trials
  • If MD must have completed part 2 of USMLE
  • Language Skills: English Basic level of knowledge required; other languages are a PLUS
  • Mathematical Skills: Intermediate skill level preferred with familiarity with statistics
  • Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required
  • Computer Skills: MS Office Suite – Basic user proficiency preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain professional behavior
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Limited travel may be required
