Savage Services, an established materials management company, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Savage Maintenance Program at our Port Arthur location. The successful candidate will maintain and repair coke handling process equipment. Equipment will range from but not limited to, overhead bridge, belt conveyors, excavating heavy equipment, skid mount hydraulic pump units, skid mount lubrication pump systems, railcar loading systems, coke drum un-heading / re-heading devices and bridge cranes. Here is what you will be doing
Perform a pre/post shift equipment inspections
Maintain and report spare parts inventory
Properly record and complete maintenance reports and service records
Repair and maintain pumps, motors, hydraulics, conveyors, mobile and plant specific equipment
Maintain good relations and open communication with coworkers and management via radio and other proper means
Maintain a clean work environment by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, etc.
Requirements of a successful Maintenance Mechanic
Experience with :
Repairing and maintaining bridge cranes and coke cutting equipment
At least 5 years of experience with conveyors, changing rollers, pulleys, motors, changing and vulcanizing belts, bag houses, hoppers, crushers, magnets, scales, etc.
At least 5 years of experience with heavy equipment maintenance and repair
Knowledge and working experience with different types of welding and cutting
Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150’
Boiler maker skills a plus
Experience with automated equipment and basic computers are a plus
Practices and understands time management, is a self-starter with a positive outlook
Refinery or Industrial Plant Operations: experience with high safety standards and regulations associated with hazardous industrial plant environments
Material Handling: experience in aggregate quarries, mills, or mines with material moving equipment such as hoppers, conveyors, reclaimers, and overhead bridge cranes and their process flow
Additional experience operating back hoe, front end loader, dozer, or other heavy equipment is a plus
High School Diploma or greater
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role
Ability to work outside in any weather condition
Must be willing to work a rotating schedule and call out schedule
Work in an environment containing coal dust, hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments
Work at heights, climbing stairs, and climbing ladders
Walk on uneven ground and up to 3 miles per shift
Must have ability to wear required PPE
Must be able to pass a fit test and pulmonary function test for the purposes of wearing a respirator and recertify annually or as needed
Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
Must be able to periodically work at heights of up to but not limited to 150’
