Your Role at Raising Cane’s: The Lease Accountant is a valued part of the Lease Accounting team and assists in the lease accounting process for 780+ company operated restaurants. This role facilitates lease payments, performs monthly recording and review of lease transactions, and serves as the primary point-of-contact for addressing landlord inquiries related to lease payments. This position works closely with internal teams to maintain all leases in Lucernex (LX), our lease accounting software. Responsibilities: Your Impact and Responsibilities:

Sets up rent payment schedules in LX and validates lease data and attributes input by the lease administration team

Tactfully negotiates resolution of disputes between landlords and Cane’s regarding lease terms and account reconciliations of property related expenses

Reports and tracks overall savings obtained by the Lease Accounting team

Properly interprets and ensures compliance of all lease-related payments including but not limited to base rent and property related expenses

Works closely with the AP team to reconcile lease related transactions and monthly rental payments, accurately and timely

Calculates monthly percentage rent and posting of the percentage rent accrual

Prepares ad hoc reports as necessary using strong business acumen to meet the requestor’s objectives

Prepares reconciliations to the landlords statement of property related expenses and ensures that they are aligned with the terms of the lease

Creates efficiencies in lease accounting processes to support rapid Company growth

Assists with documentation of technical processes for internal use and audit purposes

Assists in period-end journal entry processing, balance sheet reconciliations, and other reviews of financial data

Assists with other projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Requirements for Success:

3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in restaurant company or in the retail industry

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area, or additional relevant career experience

Ability to interpret lease agreements and other legal documents

Ability to work effectively with Lease Administration and other teams to provide accurate lease information

Highly energetic with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

Experience with lease administration and accounting systems - Workday and Lucernex experience preferred

Experience using Microsoft Office, with extensive knowledge of Excel
