Competency in basic computer use and electronic communication tools, e.g., email, calendar.· Ability to work with and relate to people of all faith traditions and cultural backgrounds.· Ability to offer religious and spiritual rituals as requested by patients and staff.· Ongoing proficiency in providing creative and appropriate opportunities for the expression of faith in the hospital setting.· Ability to assess when referral to outside clergy for administration of religious rites is in order.· Excellent ability to work with people during crisis and bereavement, offering compassionate care and having familiarity with local resources to meet ongoing needs.· Ability to debrief with clinical staff after critical incidents, with an understanding of cumulative stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue.· Adhere to all HIPAA rules and regulations with an eye to compliance. Utilize error prevention tools to regularly address safety and standards of care.· Ability to support and contribute to Pastoral Care department team functioning, including but not exclusive to timely sharing of events or concerns with manager and engendering trust and collaboration with team members.· Flexibility to adjust work location and hours as needed due to circumstances related to patient volumes or need is required. Locations and hours of availability that may be pursued outside of the primary entity and hours will be agreed to on upon hire, or prior to working at other entities.What You Will Do· Patient care: Provide professional pastoral and spiritual care to patients and their loved ones, using excellent listening, observational, assessment, and interventional skills. Assess patient and family spiritual resources and vulnerabilities, offering corresponding interventions. Document care in electronic medical record, using Pastoral Care standardized processes.· Interdisciplinary Team Integration and Care: Participate in assigned clinical unit interdisciplinary rounds, team huddles, regular nurse-manager consultation, and provide staff support. Represent Pastoral Care Department as an active member of at least one hospital committee as assigned by Pastoral Care Manager.· Support Pastoral Care Department: Participate in Pastoral Care staff meetings. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all Pastoral Care Department policies and procedures. Complete required Pastoral Care Department training. Complete Pastoral Care activity and statistics reports in a timely manner. Participate in the ritual life of the hospital, e.g., FINAL SALUTEs, memorial services, award ceremonies, and other similar celebrations and special events within the hospital. Perform other duties as assigned.· Develop and maintain annual goals and measurable outcomes in collaboration with Pastoral Care manager.
