Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing inTexasJOB SUMMARY:The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for directing andfacilitatingthe flow ofpatient care activities of the department/area.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Supports andassistswith the development and actualization of the department's/area'sgoals (strategic plan). Coordinates and directs the department's/area's patient care operations for an assignedshift. Competently provides careappropriate toage and specialty of the patient as defined bythe department. Manages personnel effectively, and analyzes workload and skill requirement to meet careneeds for assigned shift. Promotes and practices cost containment. Practices and promotes patient/family advocacy andassistswith maintenance of ethicalprocedure. Practices and promotes positive peer and guest relations.Participatesin and promotes quality improvement and nursing researchactivates. Functions as a leader. Activelyparticipatesin and promotes the development of self and others. List all essential job functions, responsibilities, activities, and tasks. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structureWORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Work environmentis located ina comfortable indoor area. Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimescause discomfort. Moderate to extreme physical effort may berequiredsuch as walking,standingand liftingmaterials, equipment, objects, and/or patients. Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs. Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must beadequate enoughto enableone toquickly and accurately perform taskssuch as: reading small print, reading frommonitoring equipment, defining details,sendingand receiving clear andaccurateverbalcommunication. Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual,auditory,and sensory inputs. Shift work may berequired. Alertness and careful attention to detail will berequiredto avoid injury. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation,chemotherapeuticagents, anddisoriented or combative patients.
