The Motor Shop Technician will inspect, analyze, test, measure, repair and perform full or partial overhauls on assemblies or subassemblies of directional motors, and other oilfield drilling components. The Motor Shop Technician will perform entire disassembly and reassembly of equipment to pristine condition and ensure that all tools and test equipment are fully serviceable prior to the start of repair work and are fully accounted for after each repair. Non-technical duties will include routine house cleaning of the yard and shop spaces and equipment, cleaning equipment, moving equipment around the yard and participating in various meetings, trainings and development activities.Detailed Description :Trouble shoot and diagnose the problem of equipment brought to the maintenance shopAssemble and disassemble directional motors, and other oilfield drilling componentsPerform all tests and repair in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s service manual and bulletinsQuality control of parts to determine whether they need to be repaired or replacedList parts to be replaced referring to the manufacturer’s manuals and diagramsLook up all necessary repair parts and order them as neededDocument inspections, test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeepEnsure the yard and shop spaces are clean and organizedEnsure that all equipment is clean and in good working orderSafely operate forklift to move equipment around the yardParticipate in all required meetings, training and development activitiesAbility to communicate, including ability to read, write, and speak English and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English.Performs other related duties as assignedJob Requirements :Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled toolsAbility to safely navigate the yard and shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day / night, outdoor hot / cold weather)Ability to operate heavy equipmentLift and carry pounds independently while walking on uneven surfacesBend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areasDemonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others and ability to interact productively with coworkers and third partiesBasic computer skills in Microsoft OfficeWear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated timesWilling to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, occasional nights, weekends and holidays.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentmonths of stable related work historyPreferred QualificationsPrevious Motor Shop experience, including painting experienceQuality control experience with vector gauges and RA meter and other measurement equipmentAdditional Details :The Motor Shop Technician must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop and yard which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
