DescriptionTHE ROLEThe Director, Strategy and Planning, Central Division is responsible for developing and directing key strategy and planning solutions for Providence’s Central Division, including providing expert guidance in the identification, development and implementation of best-in-class planning tools and resources. The Director will work closely with the Central Division Chief Strategy Officer, service area strategy leaders, Central Division leadership, System leadership and clinical institute leaders to provide strategic project leadership and guidance for strategic planning and effective decision-making. The Director will have accountability for development of strategic and operating plans, metric plans and dashboards, support financial and market analysis, related business planning and leadership for other strategic endeavors as requested. This position will report to the Central Division CSO and supervise members of the team as requested. As a strategy leader, this position requires strong use of imitative and independent judgment, as well as collaboration skills to work effectively with leaders throughout the Division and broader organization.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Strategic leadership and prophetic voice (While living the Mission is the responsibility of Serves as a key member of the Central Division strategy and business development team, leading planning, initiative and outcome tracking efforts.

Provides expert leadership, facilitation and project oversight for key strategic planning, service line / line of business planning / clinical institutes and other planning initiatives.

Leads development and implementation of Providence Central Division strategic planning cycle and framework to ensure unique characteristics of diverse communities are considered and to maximize consistency in our approach / deliverables.

Leads development and implementation of tools and templates to drive consistent planning and outcomes across the Central Division

Works to ensure division and service area level strategic plans are fully inclusive of PCN, lines of business, home & community care and shared services.

Leads and supports development and implementation of success measure for strategic priorities in partnership with Chief Strategy Officer, division leaders and service area strategy leaders

Partners with service area, clinical institute, system, and division leaders to develop strategic roadmaps and processes to track, update and ensure realization. Manage to metrics for cost, quality, ROI, growth, and mission alignment.

Leads and supports as necessary new business development alliances and partnerships.

Develops, implements and maintains, in coordination with other division and system teams, metric scorecards and and/or other tools to ensure progress towards implementation of strategic plan and priorities

Works with service areas, system and finance to implement annual planning and budgeting calendars, works to ensure alignment between strategic planning and long-range financial planning.

Maintains expert knowledge of health care market trends and stay abreast of the evolving health care landscape to serve as a resource for strategic planning needs.

Prepares and coordinates environmental assessments in partnership with other system, service area, institute functions to summarize and communicate evolving healthcare trends

Coordinates and supports preparation of leadership meetings and/or retreats as necessary

Informs division-wide system and structure design, implementation and management.

Oversees and lead the work of a group of caregivers. Demonstrate the ability to delegate, provide oversight and direction and lead a highly sustainably engaged team of caregivers that achieves its goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree – business administration, health administration, public health, public administration or related discipline

Master’s degree - business administration, health administration, public health, public administration or related discipline (preferred)

10 years of experience in healthcare operations, management consulting, finance, strategy, business development or strategic analytics

5 years of experience interacting with c-suite executives and/or governing boards

5 years of experience in developing strategic plans, service line plans and/or business plans

Experience leading teams in accomplishing objectives in a complex, matrixed organization (preferred)

Experience in supervision and management (preferred)

Leads in alignment with Providence mission, vision and values. Fosters a sense of belonging and commitment to a diverse team and organization

Strategic agility – proven ability to develop organizational and business strategy

Excellent planning skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and lead meetings and workshops to accomplish specific objectives.

Partners effectively through influence, leading change confidently and adjusting personal leadership / communication style to work well with various groups of people, teams and functions to achieve desired results

Expert communication skills, including the ability to present complex information orally, written and graphically

Strong, focused written communication that is responsive to the needs of key stakeholders

Able to lead assessment, analysis, design and decision of strategic issues using participative planning and decision-making processes

Meet strict deadlines

Able to represent Providence in public setting

Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with leadership at multiple levels of the organization in a credible and professional manner

Navigates relationship, authority and decision-making effectively within a matrixed organization

Possesses and demonstrate emotional intelligence appropriate for someone working with highest level of leadership at the division

Highly organized, thorough and detail oriented

Strong commitment to personal and profession development and success of team members

Capable of analyzing and organizing data in a manner that is easy to understand and drives decision-making – Able to inform requirements for new analytic tools and reports.
