40533BRExtended Job Title:Assistant Volleyball CoachPosition Description:Performs responsible work in the development of teams and individual athletes for sports competition in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department under direct supervision of a head coach.Requisition ID:40533BRTravel Required:Up to 100%Major/Essential Functions:The Assistant Volleyball Coach will support the head coach in all aspects of managing and developing Texas Tech University’s competitive women’s volleyball program. The role involves recruiting, coaching, and fostering a culture of excellence on and off the court. This individual will also work collaboratively within the athletics department to promote a positive student-athlete experience that aligns with Texas Tech’s values and goals.

Coaching & Development

Assist in designing, implementing, and executing training programs and practice sessions, with a focus on developing assigned position groups.

Develop and implement individualized training and development plans to enhance on-court performance. Provide personalized feedback, goal setting, and skill development while utilizing data, metrics, and technology to measure progress and translate training into gameplay.

Assist in collecting and analyzing data, utilizing metrics and technology to evaluate athlete performance.

Assist with all phases of game plan development.

Collaborate with the Head Coach to support team building, enhance culture, develop leadership, and reinforce role clarity.

Recruitment

Assist with all aspects of student-athlete recruitment, including off-campus evaluations, direct and indirect communication, and coordinating official and unofficial visits.

Attend scouting events, games, and tournaments to assess potential recruits.

Build and maintain relationships with high school and club coaches.

Academic & Personal Development

Promote and monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring NCAA compliance.

Mentor student-athletes, fostering leadership, sportsmanship, and strong character.

Administrative Duties

Serve as the program’s Quality Control Director, collaborating with the Head Coach and Director of Operations to uphold program standards. Strengthen communication and relationships within the program and Athletic Department while ensuring efficient program operations.

Assist with marketing, promotion, branding, and social media for the volleyball program. Act as the primary liaison with the athletics communications team.

Assist in organizing team travel, budgeting, and other logistics as needed.

Community

Represent Texas Tech Athletics in public forums and community events.

Manage alumni relations, coordinate donor events, and oversee special projects.

Previous experience as a player or coach at a high competitive level.

A deep understanding of NCAA compliance and rules.

Extensive experience in training and developing setters, complemented by a well-established network within the volleyball community.
