MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of The University of Texas M. D. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of Medical Assistant experience. Certified Medical Assistant is a plusShift: Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30pmKey FunctionsAssists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures.Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms.Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care.Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work.Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review.Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing (such as finger stick glucose and EKG tests).Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital.Must position, lift and move patients as needed.Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment.Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies.Processes all required paperwork.Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONRequired: High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.EXPERIENCERequired: One year of medical assistant experience.
