We need a palomita (care giver) with experience in caring for the elderly. We have an 80 year old lady (in Laredo) who is in need of home care. She is recovering from oral cancer surgery/radiation and chemo and developed lockjaw (she can’t open her mouth). Doctors have inserted a feeding tube directly to her stomach and her husband feeds her (already prepared liquid meals) through the tube. It’s not difficult to feed her once you get the hang of it. She does not have dementia or any other disability, she is just physically weak and needs to be watched over. We’re hoping this is temporary until she gets better. Her husband 79 years old lives with her and is currently taking care of her, feeding her, helping her, but they need help.
She needs:
Help walking around the house so she doesn’t fall.
Feeding through a feeding tube. We have her liquid meals already prepared.
Showering
Making sure she takes pain medication on schedule. Some pills have to be crushed and mixed into her (already prepared liquid meals).
Someone with basic medical experience. Nurses or assistant nurses a PLUS!
Someone who can be there all day, but we are willing to work out a schedule and/or shifts.
Someone with their own transportation.
Someone who speaks Spanish.
Someone who can start as soon as possible.
We pay by the hour (private, not through insurance) depending on experience.
