OverviewSt. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital is located on a beautiful 25-acre campus in Lake Jackson Texas. South Brazoria County’s premier healthcare system St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital is dedicated to providing quality care with compassion for the communities we serve.ResponsibilitiesThe PACU RN utilizes the nursing process to identify patient needs and priorities of care through assessment, planning, and delegation of care based on patient needs post-anesthesia and evaluation of the patient’s response. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization. This position supports the mission, vision, and philosophy of CommonSpirit Health.

Maintain a knowledge base regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques, physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient.

Assess, plan, intervention for and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and the interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation, analgesia, and anesthetic agents.

Assesses patient's health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs.

Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.

Collaborates with other care staff to assure smooth transition for patient throughout the facility using proper hand off techniques.

Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.

Provides patient and family education.

Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.

Orient and achieve competency from all areas of the Perioperative department.

Qualifications

Associates Degree Nursing required

At least one (1) year of recent acute care experience required

Experience working in PACU preferred

Registered Nurse in the State of Texas required

American Heart BLS required
