Looking for a bilingual skilled Concrete Specialist to join our team! The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing, ensuring high-quality work on various construction projects. Responsibilities include preparing and leveling surfaces, installing forms, and working with a team to complete projects on time. Must have strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety standards.
The Concrete Specialist leads a crew in building concrete, or stone, retaining walls, water features, fire pits, and walkways.
Must have the ability to place and finish concrete and ensure all proper grades and elevations are set and followed. Must have the ability to issue oral and written instructions. Have the ability to communicate with the general public and crew members.
Resume MUST show experience in concrete forming and concrete finishing.
Duties
Leads crews to perform work for Landscape construction projects to include installation of hardscape patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living spaces using durable material such as stone and concrete.
Cut lumber and set forms; cuts, lays and ties re-bar using steel cutter and re-bar ties.
Provide technical support to assist division staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities; provide functional and technical leadership and training as needed.
Assist with preparation of concrete base including setting wood forms, positioning steel, measuring and pouring concrete, finishing concrete, removing wooden forms, backfilling and cleaning site.
Drives to the jobsite and prepares site for work. Checks supplies, equipment, and materials needed for job.
Helps loads truck with bricks, blocks, lumber, mortar, generator, wheelbarrow, sand, etc.
Mix concrete in cement mixer; fill the wheelbarrow and push to box or pouring site; pours concrete.
Cleans assigned equipment and related tools daily as required.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (Drivers must be over the age of 21 for insurance purposes)
One year of direct related experience.
Knowledge of leveling and grading surfaces
Knowledge of laser scanning
Knowledge of concrete finishes
Knowledge of slab forms
Able to work in various weather conditions
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle the physical demands of the job, including walking, standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and pulling.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate machinery and equipment. Ability to work with concrete and read blueprints. Knowledge of the construction of forms, box tops, slab, curbs, gutters, and driveways. Ability to give orders and lead concrete crews. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public. Reading and understanding construction blueprints, plans and specifications. Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of trucks and equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures. Promoting and enforcing safe work practices. Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
