Unix System Admin - Irving, TX Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all Global Unix projects for ICG and CTO Line of business from System administrator and Technical PMO perspective.
  • End-to-end collaboration by Project SA with many Project stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with Solution/Architect team, application team, Database team, Project manager, Portfolio manager and Production support System administrator.
  • Requires skills to build RED HAT Linux/AIX servers working with Factory build team and customization later as per Application team Build sheet requirements related to file system structure, rpm deployments and other System related tasks during project phase.
The Unix Systems Admin will support end-to-end project from Delivery design approval understanding Project artifacts to handover to Production System Administration support team during Go live phase. As Project SA, you will be working in parallel up to 15 projects consisting of up to 80-120 servers depending upon complexity. Typical Project phase is up to 5 months from inception. This position in addition to support also needs many standardization disciplines during build. For candidates with automation knowledge via Chef, Perl and other programming languages can also champion few automation efforts. Ability to patch, COB test and other infrastructure related tasks. Candidate needs to drive project with less monitoring in timely fashion with periodic updates to project stakeholders. Typical day consists of design review of new projects, completing build sheet related work on servers to handover to application or DB teams as per project artifacts, working on Go live readiness with production support SA team via matured process, meetings related to project, CHG# creation/closure and other documentation updates. Continuous support to application team during project phase for any work that needs root intervention.
