Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of company and or 3rd party drivers and routing, with a focus on scheduling outbound and inbound (backhaul) freight, ensuring on-time performance, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational policies.Key Competencies:Communication & Influence Leadership Operational Efficiency Planning & PrioritizationDuties & Responsibilities:Oversees day-to-day transportation and dispatch operations for employee and/or 3rd party drivers/carriersSchedules and assigns routes, including outbound deliveries and backhaul opportunities to maximize asset utilizationCollaborates with internal departments and external partners to ensure timely freight movementTracks driver performance and provides real-time support to ensure safe and efficient operationsAssists Transportation Manager with hiring, onboarding, and training of new driversConducts regular performance evaluations and ride-alongs to support driver developmentMonitors driver hours of service (HOS) and ensures DOT complianceIdentifies and books cost-effective backhaul loads using available tools and broker networksEnsures accurate and timely entry of shipment details into TMS or dispatch systemsSupports equipment scheduling and preventative maintenance coordinationPromotes and enforces safe operating practices across all transportation functionsAnalyzes transportation costs and KPIs, recommending improvements as neededThis summary describes the general duties and responsibilities for the position.
