This position leads the Global Trade Shows and Events Team, the Caterpillar Global Demonstration & Learning Centers Team, and the Equipment Training Solutions Team.The Global Trade Shows & Exhibits and Corporate Events teams oversee the planning, development, and implementation of more than 40 single industry trade shows, up to two Enterprise trade shows, and more than 150 unique events serving 500,000+ customers annually.The Global Demonstration and Learning Centers (DLCs) host over 25,000 visitors annually and provide application and product knowledge training. The Centers are located at Edwards, Illinois, Tinaja Hills, Arizona, and Malaga, Spain.The Equipment Training Solutions team develops and delivers equipment operator/application/site management training to customers via instructor-led, e-learning and virtual product training simulators.Reporting directly to this position are 5 management employees - Demonstration & Learning Center Managers (3), Equipment Training Solutions Manager (1) and the Global Tradeshow & Events Manager (1). This position reports directly to the Global Marketing & Brand VP.The incumbent directly manages day to day activities and ongoing developmental assignments of these direct reports.Responsibilities include:

Leading a large team that oversees the three Demonstration and Learning Centers that showcase our products and provides hands-on application training to dealers and customers.

Providing superior customer experience.

Having a firm grasp on the fundamentals of marketing planning and activation, and align to the global brand message.

Creating and executing a vision that evolves the Demonstration and Learning Centers as a key brand differentiator in the industry.

Be a champion of safety and introduce new standards and practices to minimize risk and injury.

Having a passion for the products showcased at the facilities and position them for maximum exposure and appeal.

Inspiring and motivating a team of event planners, and ensure the right resources, collaboration mechanisms and processes are in place to accomplish set goals.

Building an event marketing model that maximizes brand presence and achieves desired business results.

Defining and implementing standards and protocols for best practice event implementation.

Own operations and prioritization of event resources; conduct business reviews and annual resource planning.

Generating big, creative ideas and drive ongoing process improvements.

Possessing considerable negotiation, communication, organizational and planning skills to work across the organizational matrix, at all hierarchical levels from the executive office, through all the management levels, without formal authority.

Achieving universal agreement and support for a clear and aligned strategy for specific enterprise shows from stakeholders with diverse marketing requirements and needs.

Ensuring all legal and safety aspects are met in all aspects of the role, from contract negotiation, service supply, stand build, and operation, whether at a DLC, customer site, trade show or other events to ensure minimal risk to the organization.

Managing annual department budget: develop, monitor, and track the department budget (labor and related plus IM&E) of approximately $45M - $60M. Incumbent is also responsible for developing, monitoring and tracking a CAPEX budget of approximately $15M - $25M. Streamlining the budget allocation and core funding process across a matrixed organization with several business unit stakeholders to ensure a clearly transparent process is understood and supported on an annual plan.

Managing Equipment Training Solutions (ETS) which offers a variety of tools that provide our customers with the training & support needed to improve the efficiency of their operations: E-learning / Simulators, Instructor-led, operator training, Custom training programs and Salesman’s

Toolbox software suite.

Demonstrating significant business maturity, including the ability to lead negotiations and drive alignment with dealers. This also extends to dealing with major suppliers and agencies through specific service (USD2M+) contract negotiations.

Managing a geographically diverse workforce with staff located around the globe for delivery and support of tri sphere experiences. This requires planning and timely communication with respect to time zones and cultural diversity needs.

Assuring team diversity, language skills / development, all related aspects of hiring and on-boarding, goal development, and the annual performance review process.

Evaluating and motivating staff to achieve end results and maintain employee engagement in a creative yet demanding environment.

Typical internal customers include a department or business/service units within a variety of divisions and the position must align complex and varying needs of each to ensure common acceptance and agreement of vision implementation.

External customers include dealer upper management and various customers, suppliers, and vendors in a geographically diverse marketplace.

Evaluating a range of often complex problems and issues and review possible alternative solutions and their potential consequences before selecting the most appropriate and effective solution.

Setting priorities and establish a work plan to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.

Position requires up to 25% travel. Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field, preferred.

Nine to twelve years of event design and production experience, preferred.

Ability to manage large budgets with excellence while demonstrating creativity to generate cost efficiencies.

Strong project management and communication skills.

Experience working with diverse global teams and directing multiple vendors.

Experience managing a remote based large organization.
