DIESEL MECHANIC

Job description:

The Semi-Truck Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems on semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. This role ensures that all fleet vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and performance standards, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other mechanical components of semi-trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.

Perform preventative maintenance (PM) services, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and routine inspections.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, hydraulics, and air brake systems.

Use diagnostic tools and software to identify engine or system issues.

Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Replace or repair worn, damaged, or defective parts (e.g., brakes, bearings, tires, or suspension components).

Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records using shop management systems or logs.

Test-drive vehicles to ensure proper functioning after repairs.

Collaborate with other mechanics, service advisors, and drivers to address issues promptly.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all safety protocols.

DD15 experience is plus

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical school or certification in diesel mechanics preferred).

Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, especially with semi-trucks.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Physical ability to lift heavy parts (50+ lbs.), stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
