Katy Art and Frame, a well-established, small custom picture framing business in Katy, TX, is looking for a full-time manager, which includes skills as a custom picture framer/design sales associate. Experience in custom picture framing and/or retail sales is required. Must be creative with design, art, and color. Applicants must be able to work alternate Saturdays from 9:30am – 5PM, providing a weekday off when working Saturdays. This position requires standing much of the day.
The role will include managing two full-time framers/designers, as well as managing and ordering supplies. Greeting and interacting with customers, educating them on custom framing standards and conservation techniques, as well as generating design ideas and guidance on selection of framing materials and designs are another key part of this role. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and using equipment, keeping the store and work areas clean.
Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Greeting and interacting with customers in a positive and professional manner
Being extremely thoughtful about the handling and storage of customer artwork and items
Making the sale and respecting the customer’s needs and budget
Opening and closing the store
Keeping the store clean – vacuuming, dusting, taking out trash, cleaning bathroom
Keeping inventory clean and organized
Building frames, cutting mats using a computerized mat cutter, and cutting glass
Lifting up to 25 lbs.

Ability to work with color and design.

Proficient in math skills, measuring and the use of a standard tape measure and use of fractions.

Ability to use tools such as nail guns, hammers, electric screw drivers, box cutters, glass cutter, hand saw, pneumatic stapler, and air compressors.
