The Commodities Energy Sales team is seeking a dynamic and eager Director level Energy Salesperson to join and grow within the team.The Director Salesperson serves as an intermediary in trading for clients and has the following general responsibilities:
Refine and implement sales/marketing strategy to improve Citi's client footprint and maximize associated revenue while working with management/colleagues to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration and revenue goals
Leverage contact network to understand client needs, introduce the Citi offering, and convince clients to adopt it to increase client satisfaction/Citi revenue
Advise team in strategic positioning and closing transactions with various internal stakeholders (structuring, trading, legal, credit and risk etc.)
Forge a relationship with salespeople in order to leverage Citi's franchise and source relevant buying and selling opportunities for clients
Lead strong governance and controls
Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Business specific Salesperson responsibilities are, and not limited to, the following:
Develop and sell financial product solutions to clients in the US Oil and Gas Exploration, Upstream, Midstream, Downstream and Consumer space to manage market risk exposure and volatility within the commodities markets
Keep abreast of marketplace dynamics, analyze oil and gas market fundamentals and collaborate with professionals to prepare and present market commentary to corporate clients
Perform complex statistical analysis of client exposure to commodity markets based on price, basis, volatility, and correlation metrics to identify and develop financial solutions
Perform structuring, pricing and back-testing of complex risk-management solutions
Evaluate and optimize the credit profile within the oil consumer space and coordinate with banking and credit teams to quantify the appropriate credit limits to be put in place
Review and analyze underlying oil risks and prepare detailed solutions for clients on how to manage risks with appropriate derivative solutions
Cultivate existing client relationships and identify potential for new, untapped revenue opportunities within the North American client space, collaborating with partners on the banking and trading side to determine feasibility
Conduct in-person client meetings and presentations (15-20% Domestic Travel required).
Qualifications:
15+ years of financial product sales experience at a financial services organization and/or experience as a Commodities Derivatives Salesperson inclusive of:
Experience engaging in financial derivatives structuring and pricing as well as market risk analytics to design and price risk-management solutions for clients
Using Excel modeling to conduct scenario analysis, demand and capacity analysis, and budget management and reporting to determine various risk factors and their effects to clients
Conducting complex statistical analysis of client exposures to commodity markets.
Using Bloomberg to conduct charting, custom index analysis and pricing quotes.
Experience in a client-facing role working with the buy-side community focused on the Energy industry
Proven interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree in Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field or equivalent experience
