The primary purpose of this Research Investigator position is to apply technical expertise and experience to coordinate, design and carry out research projects. This will include processing FFPE and tissue samples and preparing them for next-generation sequencing experiments, maintain laboratory equipment, samples and reagents, and conduct raw sequencing data processing and preliminary analysis.JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESLab Duties

Dissociate human and animal tissue and FFPE samples and prepare them for NGS-compatible experiments.

Performs tissue and cell culture work, tissue staining (e.g. H&E stain) PCR, qPCR, DNA, RNA isolation and quality control.

Conduct epigenomic profiling experiments using assays, including CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag, CUTAC, scCUT&Tag and scMulti-Tag.

May function in a separate and independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments.

Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained.

Data Management

Assists with administrative responsibilities associated with collecting human and animal tissue and FFPE samples. Records and evaluates data quality in accordance with methods requested

Writes protocols and performs molecular biology experiments

Maintains records of human samples received, data produced and their location

Conduct raw sequencing data processing, quality control and customized preliminary data analysis in a case-by-case manner

General Lab Organization and Lab Safety

Aids and supports the PI in the research and laboratory maintenance and organization efforts

Places orders for reagents, equipment, and other items as needed. Constructs, assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment. Maintains lab safety and organization

Train students and new members in research procedures and in the use of laboratory equipment. Participate and help other lab members with ongoing projects in the lab

Assist with the preparation of grant applications and progress reports

EDUCAITON:Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.Preferred: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field.EXPERIENCE:Required: Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work.
