SUMMARYThe McAllister Laboratory (https://www.mdanderson.org/research/departments-labs-institutes/labs/mcallister-laboratory.html) studies the interplay between the immune system, microbes and tumors behavior. We are fundamentally interested in understanding how those interactions ultimately determine tumor initiation, progression, therapies responses and metastasis.The Research Assistant I impacts cancer research projects by developing/maintaining programs and applications tailored to meet research objectives and makes them available to the wider cancer research community. This position impacts all aspects of running the McAllister Clinical and Laboratory operations.KEY FUNCTIONS
Develops and maintains system for controlling paper flow for protocols and patient samples, including patient records. Develops and maintains databases for collection of research data.
Assists with Maintains schedules for timely submissions of all data reports.
Categorizes the slides and blocks and enter the availability of specimens in the database. Order requests for re-cuts, frozen sections, sequencing tasks with the central lab facilities, as per the goals of the project. Able to understand clinical information from EMR.
Assists in the preparation of information and reports for grant submission and publications.
Responsible for completion of data forms related to patient samples and analysis.
Assists with research specimen transportation/collection/processing/storage.
Write or contribute to publications or disseminate research findings.
Communicates and collaborates with staff, faculty, and investigators on research projects inside and outside of MDACC. Discusses the research findings and participates in the presentation of research results via verbal presentations, abstracts, publications, and posters.
Other duties as assigned.
