We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Project Engineer within our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, based in Houston, TX or Midland, TX.Primary Purpose will be to oversee all aspects of the electrical infrastructure (distribution) projects as well as perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of the projects.Roles and Responsibilities:
Design electrical systems, including cable routing and cable sizing.
Develop procurement specifications for substation, distribution lines and electrical system for Oil & Gas facilities.
Develop specifications for interconnection switchyard and plant substation including transformers, breakers, and power factor correction equipment.
Prepare drawings of grid interconnection and collection system for interconnection applications
Collect system data from client, utility, suppliers, and subcontractors for system modeling.
Optimize power distribution systems.
Provide cost estimating and engineering proposals.
Analyze projects designs and develop innovative solutions to improve economics and maximize return.
Facilitate alignment and allocation of resources.
Support the development of facilities standards, design guidelines, and tools.
Support management of contract engineering services
Global perspective to tie Electrical team to Business Unit
Ensure working environment is conducive to productivity to meet BU targets.
Remove roadblocks and impediments, manages conflict (internal and external)
Manage, communicate, and ensure compliance with Oxy standards and best practices.
Present recommendations and approval request to senior management
Participate in QA/QC audit processes.
Effectively utilize resources internal and external of business unit
Participate in multi discipline technical reviews of major assets and/or new business ventures.
Participate in annual and long-term business planning.
QualificationsQualifications:Education:
4-year Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree
Professional/Technical Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of electrical systems
Experience:
10 years of experience
2 years of Project Management Experience
Skills & Competencies:
In depth experience with managing oil and gas development projects
Valued contributor to business analysis and planning at all levels.
Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)
Problem solving skills with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on problems of high complexity.
Must be knowledgeable of electrical safety requirements as found in publications such as NFPA 70E.
Must have knowledge of Arc Flash Hazards
Be experienced in switching of equipment at voltage levels from 480 volts through 230,000 volts.
Expert level competency in oil and gas electrical systems
