Our collaboration is focused on increasing access to care through a growing network of leading specialists and revolutionizing healthcare to save lives and improve the health of the communities we serve.ResponsibilitiesPrepares routine and STAT microscopic slides from all tissue removed during surgery procedures that will be interpreted by the Pathologists in the diagnosis of disease. Responsible for organizing work load as assigned. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with staff, other departments, physicians and peers.Receives, accessions and Assists with grossing of tissue specimens from Surgery, doctor’s offices, , Endoscopy, outside hospitals, and contract accountsPrepares STAT frozen sections for the Pathologist for immediate diagnosis while the patient is still on the operating table so that the surgeon can determine the extent of the surgical procedure. Complete accessioning, cutting, and staining within a 10 minute time limit on STAT frozen sectionsHistologically processes tissue, embeds using appropriate orientation depending on type of tissue, sections per protocol, stains, coverslips, reviews for completion, and Delivers finished slides to the Pathologist for interpretationPerforms multiple special stains necessary to assist in or confirm diagnosisProcesses autopsy material and Prepares teaching setsPerforms preventive maintenance and daily quality assurance on all equipmentAdheres to all regulatory requirementsQualificationsEducation and Certification:High School Diploma/GEDCertification as a Histologist (HT ASCP or HTL ASCP)Experience:Experience in large volume hospital based Histology LabExperience in operating all histology related equipment#labtexas#HistologyBaylorPay Range$23.87 - $32.82 /hourWe are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
