 About the Opportunity

The role of Deputy Chief of Instructional Excellence is to create, implement, and progress

monitor the execution of the strategic plan for curriculum high quality curriculum

implementation and instruction in service of improving academic achievement outcomes in

conformance with organizational and state goals and objectives, and within budget guidelines.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a diverse and dynamic Team and Family

committed to building academically excellent, and critically conscious schools in KIPP Texas.The Candidate

Successful candidates must demonstrate a deep belief in the capacity of all students to

achieve at high levels, demonstrate strong instructional expertise and have the ability to work

collaboratively with a diverse set of leaders and teachers to improve student

achievement. Additionally,A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Successful School Leader Manager A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Successful School Leader Preference will be given to candidates with experience leading organizationalturnaround workInstructional expertise and experience across all grade bands, PreK- 12Duties and Essential Job Functions:

The Deputy Chief of Instructional Excellence will lead a team who is responsible for

providing coaching support to transformation primary schools and priority secondary schools

via: Planning & co-leading weekly content team meetings in assigned schoolsPlanning & co-leading weekly data team meetings in assigned schoolsLeading school-based practice clinics & teach backsCoaching APIs to impact with a focus on high quality instruction &curriculum implementationSupporting transformational school leader managers & school leadershipteam in progress monitoring actions that drive improvement in the areas ofdata-driven culture, curriculum implementation, and high qualityinstruction that leads to teacher impactCrafting and executing on school, regional and org-wide improvement plansin response to curriculum implementation dataImplementing small group instruction during Crescendo season in assignedschoolsLeading weekly Coaching & Learning communities

 Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates a steadfast commitment to fairness by modeling best practices and proactively addressing any procedures that may lead to imbalanced outcomes at both the school and organizational levels.Instructional: Identifies effective practices in the first teach and in accelerationclassrooms, and understands pedagogy that results in improved student learning outcomes; Data-driven: Uses multiple data sources to differentiate the types of instructionalsupports and interventions needed for individual students, specific student groups,schools, and across a targeted group of schools;Achievement-Focused: Sets challenging goals, demonstrating persistence andovercoming obstacles to achieve goals without confusing effort for results; Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and difficult situations and information; ininterpersonal problem-solving, decision-making and leadership skills; to communicateeffectively, both orally and in writing and to manage and work with a team toaccomplish mission and goals. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitiveinformation.Continuous Learner: Researches a variety of information (e.g. current practices,instructional materials, methods, curriculum guidelines, etc.) for the purpose ofdeveloping new programs and/or master plans.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of instructional best practices rooted in the most current researchKnowledge of curriculum selected by KTX and instructional frameworksKnowledge of general education, multilingual and special educationKnowledge of federal designation grant requirementsKnowledge of effective school-level and systems level strategies for accelerationStrong skills in strategic planning and communicationDemonstrated expertise in developing a community of leaders and learnersExperience in resource allocation for education programs, human resources,physical/equipment resourcesEffective collaboration skills alongside a variety of internal & external shareholdergroups
