Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with expertise in oil and gas exploration and production (E& P). The ideal candidate will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to drive data-driven decision-making in E& P operations. You will collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimize exploration strategies, reservoir management, and production efficiency.Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Modeling:

Analyze geological, geophysical, and production data to uncover actionable insights.

Develop predictive models to assess reservoir performance and optimize drilling operations.

Implement machine learning algorithms for seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and production forecasting.

Optimization & Efficiency:

Design and implement data-driven strategies to improve production rates and reduce operational costs.

Apply statistical methods and optimization techniques to enhance field development plans.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling experts, to integrate data science solutions into E& P workflows.

Present findings, visualizations, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Data Management & Integration:

Process and integrate large, complex datasets, including seismic data, well logs, and production metrics.

Ensure data quality, consistency, and availability for analysis.

Innovation & Research:

Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in data science applicable to oil and gas.

Drive innovation by identifying new applications for data science in exploration and production.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education:

Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum 7+ years of experience in data science with at least 3+ years in oil and gas exploration and production.

Hands-on experience with subsurface data (seismic, well logs, reservoir models) and production data analytics.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.

Expertise in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).

Strong knowledge of statistical methods, predictive modeling, and optimization techniques.

Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, D3.js).

Familiarity with E& P-specific software and tools (e.g., Petrel, Eclipse, Techlog).

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Ability to work in a team-oriented, cross-disciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Knowledge of artificial intelligence applications in subsurface analysis.

Experience with real-time data streaming and IoT applications in oil and gas operations.
