Certified Child Life Specialists provide evidence-based, developmentally-appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation and education that support and reduce fear, anxiety and pain for infants, children, youth and families. Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and trained in the developmental impact of illness and injury. Their role helps improve patient and family care, satisfaction and overall experience. The Child Life Specialist provides continuity of care to patients and families to meet their psycho-social needs.Child Life AssistantWork schedule: Part Time (20 hours weekly) / Weekends (9am - 7:30pm)Essential Job Duties:Environment Maintains a safe, clean and well-organized environment.Conducts daily cleaning of toys, supplies and play materials. Completes the cleaning log. Utilizes appropriate hand hygiene.Developmentally Appropriate Play Engages in developmentally appropriate play in the playroom/ Kim's Place and/or at the bedside with infants, children, youth, young adults and families.Operations Assists with the delivery of diversion, recreational and educational materials to infants, children, youth, and young adults.Provides coverage fo special events and programs sponsored/assisted by the Child Life Department.Maintains equipment and environments (i.e requesting repairs and cleaning when needed).Collaborates with child life specialists and management to order necessary supplies and equipment.REQUIREMENTS:Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Thirty hours of course work in child development, nursing, social work, family studies, psychology or related field.Preferred : Associate's Degree or Bachelor's LevelRequired Experience: One year of experience working with children, adolescents or young adults in a health care setting or child care setting.
