POSITION OVERVIEWApplications accepted from: All Persons Interested Department : Houston WaterDivision : Wastewater OperationsReporting Location: 4545 Groveway StWorkdays & Hours: M-F, 7a.m. - 4p.m.Subject to changeDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPosition will support the Executive Management Section, providing professional administrative functions and manages multiple special project duties simultaneously as requested by management. Researches, reviews, evaluates, recommends and implements new data, reports, products and other information to stay in compliance. Acts as liaison in multiple areas while maintaining a high level of confidentiality; finance and procurement; coordinate logistics for a high volume of travel. Establishes policies, procedures, guidelines and project schedules. Guide, train and evaluate staff. Provide back-up support to other administrative personnel. Coordinate special projects, including planning, research, track and compile technical data for departmental reporting and presentations. Acts as liaison to other departments, government agencies and private sector. Attending meetings, events and community outreach efforts. Works closely with management to establish procedures, consistency and accuracy of workflow that increase the productivity of our employees and the efficiency of our operations. Responsibilities of this position will include drafting, editing, and revising correspondence, reports, and other documents, checking for accuracy, content, and format. This position will manage an active calendar of appointments and handle logistics of various events and meetings both internally and externally. The person in this position will handle sensitive and confidential information to ensure inquiries are properly addressed and resolved. The ideal candidate will have effective communication, planning, and organization skills, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service, interacting professionally with staff at all levels of the organization, and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/WORKING CONDITIONSThe position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.This is a Department of Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts or a related field.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThree (3) years of administrative experience are required.Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSNone PREFERENCES
