Lead Cutman/Prefabricator - Aluminum & Outdoor Living Construction

Texas, Galveston, 77550 Galveston USA
Aplica ya

Location: Texas (field-based with daily travel to residential job sites)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cutman / Prefabricator to join our aluminum and outdoor living construction team. This role is pivotal to the success of every installation project. The Lead Cutman is responsible for cutting, fabricating, labeling, and organizing all aluminum components for pool enclosures, patio covers, screen rooms, and related structures before they leave the warehouse.

This position requires exceptional accuracy and precision — every cut, angle, and measurement must be correct the first time. If the materials are wrong, the installers cannot build in the field. The Lead Cutman works in a controlled warehouse environment alongside one shop hand, ensuring all materials are cut, prepped, loaded, and ready for delivery to the jobsite.

You will work directly from cut sheets, diagrams, blueprints, layouts, and engineering plans to ensure all materials are prepared exactly to specifications. You will also track material usage, maintain stock quantities, and assist with project‑specific material breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

Cutting & Prefabrication

Read and interpret cut sheets, blueprints, diagrams, layouts, and engineering plans for each project

Cut aluminum framing, beams, and components to exact measurements and angles using a miter saw and other cutting tools

Prefabricate framing assemblies where applicable for faster field installation

Label and organize all cut materials for clear identification in the field

Bundle and protect materials to prevent damage during loading, transport, and delivery

Material Management

Create and manage accurate material lists for each project based on engineering plans and layouts

Verify that all necessary materials are available before starting a project cut list

Track and maintain warehouse inventory of aluminum stock and related materials

Notify the Project Manager of low stock levels or upcoming material needs

Assist with ordering materials when stock is running low

Deliveries & Loading

Responsible for all pool enclosure deliveries to job sites

Safely operate company trucks and haul large trailers up to 40 ft to deliver materials

Load and secure all materials for safe transportation to job sites

For smaller projects (screen walls, patio covers, etc.), pull and stage materials for the installation crew, track materials, and deliver to job sites during down time to assist with installation speed

Coordinate with the shop hand to prepare and load completed project material packages

Accuracy & Quality Control

Verify every cut and prefabricated component matches project specifications

Double‑check degree cuts, measurements, and labeling before loading

Work methodically to eliminate mistakes that could cause installation delays

Ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards

Work Schedule / Work Setting

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch

Occasional overtime and Saturdays for rush projects or urgent delivery needs

Work Setting: Warehouse‑based with frequent delivery runs to job sites

Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and extensive experience pulling large trailers (up to 40 ft) for pool enclosure deliveries

Requirements

3+ years of experience in aluminum cutting, fabrication, or a related trade

Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, cut sheets, and layouts

Extensive experience with miter saw operation, including compound and precision angle cuts

Exceptional measurement skills and attention to detail — zero tolerance for errors in this role

Strong organizational skills for labeling, bundling, and preparing materials for shipment

Ability to lift and move aluminum stock and materials (up to 75 lbs)

Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with regular delivery responsibilities

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Must be able to safely haul and maneuver large trailers up to 40 ft in length
