Under direct supervision, the Research Associate performs standard research assignments involving cellular signaling assays and the testing of novel compounds using in vitro pharmacology methods.

Sets up and conducts standard research experiments following detailed technical instructions.

Prepares cells, biological assays and conducts basic quantitative and qualitative analyses.

Maintains organized records of all tests performed and all data collected.

Assists in the compilation and tabulation of data and provides analyses of results.

Calibrates, operates and makes minor modifications to a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines.

Adheres to internal controls established for the laboratory and pharmacological assays.

Works closely with a senior scientist and the laboratory director to perform all experiments.

Performs related duties on additional projects as required.

May provide guidance to junior research staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

A background in Pharmacy or Pharmacology is preferred for this position

Working knowledge and expertise with cell culture

The ability to effectively work together as part of a research team is highly desired

Basic computer skills including the use of Graphpad Prism, MS Excel and familiarity with basic computational analyses is preferred

Preferred Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy or Pharmacology with 2 years of prior research experience required.Preferred Skills:

Biological analysis of cellular signaling and the responses to test compounds in cellular assays

Quantitative analysis of drug receptor interactions

Analysis and tabulation of experimental data

Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and micropipetting.
