The Global Engineering team leverages our technical know-how and expertise to deliver solutions that enable safe, sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive production.The Materials & Corrosion Engineer Staff supports BASF Corporation sites in North America by providing expertise in materials and corrosion. They collaborate with a team to optimize plant performance and reliability. Responsibilities include material selection, corrosion engineering, metallurgy, failure analysis, inspection, testing, and welding. They also lead global collaboration efforts.As a Senior Materials Engineer, You Create Chemistry By

Performing Materials Engineer functions including selecting materials, guiding welding processes, coatings, linings, elastomers, and seals. Providing expert technical support on corrosion mechanisms, controls, and metallurgy projects.

Leading strategic analysis to ensure reliable plant operation and resolve complex problems.

Coordinating corrosion testing for material selection, mechanical integrity assessments, and validation testing of new materials and processes.

Leading failure recovery activities, providing expert guidance in equipment repair and modification, performing root cause failure analysis, and recommending mitigation methods.

Leading collaboration with BASF Engineering & Maintenance units and global working groups to align on work processes, procedures, and best practices in materials engineering and technical inspections.

Performing corrosion testing, validation testing, failure recovery activities, and equipment repairs/modification guidance.

Collaborating with procurement, technical site and global working groups in selecting skilled material suppliers, fabricators, and inspection service providers.

If you

Hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Materials Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering. Other related technical degrees will also be considered.

Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in materials and corrosion engineering in the chemical/petrochemical industry.

Have an understanding of industry codes, best practices, and work processes as well as the ability to work independently, influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively.

Have experience with SAP (preferred) or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems. Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
