The Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center is looking for a full-time experienced Surgical Veterinary Assistant. At the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, we strive to be among the nation's premier surgical referral centers specializing in orthopedic, soft tissue, minimally invasive, and neurosurgery for companion animals. We pride ourselves in having employees that reflect our high standard of veterinary care and are seeking career-minded individuals who are committed to veterinary medicine. Applicants would preferably have at least 1 year of experience working in a veterinary clinic. The ideal applicant would be self-motivated, have great communication skills, be computer savvy, detail-oriented, and able to handle high-stress situations. Candidates should have experience with restraining patients and caring for dogs and cats. In this role, you can expect to:
Restrain patients for various procedures, treatments, and exams
Perform blood draws and IV catheter placement on patients
Assist in pack prep with cleaning and sterilizing instruments
Assist Technicians with anesthetic induction
Assist with safe patient transport within hospital
Assist with patient treatments as directed by your Surgical Operations Manager
Help with end-of-day duties and ease transition from day shift to night shift
Maintain hospital cleanliness; Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties
Maintain sterility and proper etiquette when working in Surgery Suite
Assist with patient intake and discharge
Restock hospital as needed
Perform clinical laboratory procedures, run in-house labwork, and prepare lab samples for outgoing labwork
Assist other technicians when necessary
Other duties as assigned
