The Director of Environmental, Health and Safety is a multi-site role for all US locations. Responsible for building a culture of compliance with federal and state health, safety and environmental law, regulations, and standards. This position reports directly to the Sr Vice President of Operations for Elbit America and
is on site in Fort Worth, TX. Responsibilities and Tasks in order of priority to be successful:
Oversee the Sustainability, Environmental, Health and Safety programs for all Elbit America locations including supervision of each EH&S site lead with direct EH&S oversight of the Fort Worth facilities (2)
Supervise professional EHS staff including career plans and long-term development
Effectively communicate EHS requirements to all levels of personnel to encourage a safe and productive workplace
Lead emergency response for Fort Worth facility during incidents; ensure adequate training and preparation for the on-site emergency response teams
Investigate incidents and near misses; identify and track corrective actions
Analyze proposed changes for environmental, process, and safety impacts including new equipment, process changes, chemical approvals, and facility upgrades
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the manufacturing process, equipment, and materials
Maintain a strong rapport with engineering, supervision, facilities, and production staff
Actively participate in EHS audits, developing corrective actions, and implementing improvements
Identify, propose and implement programs / projects to reduce the risk of injury to personnel,
improve sustainability, and reduce impact on the environment
Establish and maintain an effective training program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Lead Gemba walks through the facility with members of the senior leadership team.
Conduct site assessments and compliance review of programs
Assist with ISO/OSHA certifications
Develop and maintain safety and environmental performance metrics including TRIR and LDIR
Maintain existing SDS system
Verify and/ or develop JSA’s, PPE, and LOTO assessments
Coordinate testing for compliance with local, state and federal regulatory standards
Lead audits and/ or support audit teams
Provide insight and guidance to the product safety review board
Collaborate with Facilities, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Occupational Health
teams to ensure that EHS requirements are understood and met.
Report to OSHA, VA DOL, corporate reporting – including metrics, project schedules, operations
review presentations
Lead the Safety Committee which is comprised of both salaried and union members.
Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned
