Bachelors’ degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline

3+ years avionics development experience

2+ experience working directly with customers in the avionics industry

Mastery of requirements development and requirements management

Overview

The Avionics System Engineer position is a FLSA exempt (salaried) position which reports to the Product Line Manager.

This individual will fill a key role in the definition and specification of complex avionics applications for Applied Avionics, Inc. (AAI).

Essential Functions

Work directly with customers to define and specify requirements for avionics applications.

Coordinate with AAI engineering in flowing down requirements and getting technical feedback to ensure optimal design and verification of the product.

Follow established templates and standards to document customer requirements.

Give input to leadership on scope, tasking, budget, and schedule of assigned applications.

Masterfully communicate in both written and verbal forms.

Create graphics, diagrams, and flowcharts to enhance and simplify documentation and communication of requirements.

Communicate, interface, and coordinate with customers, sales, engineering, and other stakeholders.

Train, mentor, and coach less-experienced engineers.

Marginal Functions

Support sales and marketing initiatives to promote products to potential customers.

Support continuous improvement activities in technology, processes, and tools.

Qualifications for Hire

Bachelors’ degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline required.

Master’s degree desired.

3+ years avionics development experience required.

Mastery of requirements development and requirements management required.

2+ experience working directly with customers in the avionics industry required.

Knowledge of software development and programming languages such as C, C, and Python desired.

Desired experience with developing avionics equipment and avionics busses such as ARINC429, RS232, RS485, and CAN.

Desired experience developing with avionics standards such a DO-178, DO-254, and ARP4754.

Effectively utilize engineering tools such as JIRA, Subversion, and Confluence.

Effectively utilize office communication tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
