JOB DESCRIPTION - Load Planner
Best Express Transportation is seeking a motivated individual to be part of the BEST team! We are a fast-growing company. We are looking for a Load Planner to join our team. The Load Planner works with the operations team to optimize loads per truck, expedite routes and reduce shipping time. Also, the planner ensures that delivery is made to the customer in at the most cost-effective say, coordinating and managing the schedules of truck drivers to ensure products and goods are picked up and delivered in a timely manner. The Load Planner will report directly to the Operations Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for booking loads from known sources, clients, DAT or other software.
Negotiates rates with Brokers and Customer as necessary.
Accountable to do check calls with drivers to verify availability and status before booking loads.
Update and maintain accurate load information in the system including uploading images and other paperwork.
Dispatch drivers and send load information including details about the load.
Responsible for all the planning two days ahead of loads and updating the load board.
Maintain excellent communication with customers about freight details, delivery of pick-up times, and special handling requests that need to be passed on to the drivers.
Prepare dispatch documents, as well as generating freight bills and invoices.
Keep track of any added cost (TONU, LUMPERS, etc.), maintaining records of dispatched calls, route changes and delivery and pickup times.
Other duties as assigned.
Administrative Assistant Skills and Qualifications:
Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Excellent customer service skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent education required.
Minimum of 1 year in transportation in a Planner role (required)
Experience with Prophesy (preferred)
Working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT Hours of Service Regulations
Familiarity with Electronic Log Devices (ELDs)
Must be Bilingual: English/Spanish
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
Prior experience with trucking company (preferred)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
